Places to live in Jávea (1): La Corona
There are few places -if any- with the panoramic view that can be enjoyed from the houses built in what is known as La Corona urbanization. This residential area is located in the same Port of Jávea on the slope of Cabo de San Antonio. The view from here is so wide that it covers from Cabo de San Antonio itself, the Port, the entire bay, Cap Prim, Cumbres del Sol, Benitachell and even the Peñón de Ifach, in Calpe. A truly impressive sight.
Building began in the area back in the 70s, although construction has been carried out slowly over time and currently there are many free plots. It is a privileged space in which the houses are exclusive and luxurious. The plots are usually relatively small in size because having views is more important than having a large garden. In fact, most villas are built using clearings to bridge the unevenness.
As it has a south-east orientation, the weather is good throughout the year: in the hot months due to the altitude, on the one hand, and due to the milky wind that it's toned down against the mountain, on the other hand. While during the coldest months, which in Jávea are barely a few days, the same cape protects the area from the coldest winds from the north.
La Corona has a main access that is reached from the avenue that connects the fishing district of Aduanas del Mar with the Historic Center of Jávea. With a vehicle it is not possible to go up to the cape, to the Las Planas area, but it is possible to do it by walking. Actually it is a small section of about 100 meters, which must be covered on foot. Through it we enter the Natural Park of Montgó, an area of great value ecological and scenic. It is another of the luxuries of living in La Corona, living a few steps from one of the most important natural areas on the entire Mediterranean coast.
