Antonio Catalá, promoter: "Construcciones Cholbi offers us the seriousness we are looking for"
The residential area of Lluca is one of the most special in Jávea . It is very quiet and has the plus of having the golf course just a few meters away. It is an urbanization created by Lluca Properties for more than 50 years. Its promoter, Antonio Catalá, was a pioneer in housing development in Jávea. His son and his grandson have continued the passion of his father. We spoke with the former to learn more about Lluca and the construction sector.
You and your father are among the first developers in Jávea.
Yes, my father was a very enterprising person. He started selling cereals. A job that earned him the nickname “Cereals”, which I still have and will also pass on to my son. He then created the first real estate agency in Jávea. He built about thirty chalets in El Tossalet. But it was in Lluca where he developed a greater activity together with a partner of Dutch nationality. I took the reins of the business 30 years ago and my son, whose name is Antonio Catalá like my father and myself, has been in the company for 10 years now.
Now it seems that there is a good time for construction in Jávea again.
For about 3 or 4 years the construction and development activity has recovered. The customers are changing and nowadays there are quite a few Dutch and Belgian ones. For their part, the English have fallen as a result of Brexit.
What is special about Lluca?
Many things: the location, the tranquility, the proximity to the golf course... Also the fact that we carry out a maintenance and cleaning service for the roads that does not exist in other urbanizations in Jávea.
How is the regular customer?
They are usually people over 60 years of age, who come here to enjoy the last stage of their lives. They generally reside most of the year. Some return to their countries of origin for a few months because they are entrepreneurs and continue to maintain their business activity.
Which construction format do you choose?
A not very large villa, between 200 and 300 square meters on plots of 2,000. They are flat buildings, on one level and with easy access. We build them this way because the client is looking for an accessible home, without stairs or large unevenness. They usually have 3 rooms with their bathrooms, kitchen, dining room and outside barbecue and pool to enjoy the magnificent climate that we have here all year round.
How long have you been working with Construcciones Cholbi?
We've been with them for about 2 years. Actually, I have the feeling that they are more because from the first day we have hit it off and started new projects.
What things would you highlight about your work?
Responsibility and professionalism. Promociones Lluca we work with them as if we were the same company. That is possible because they are very serious at work.
